Tuesday accomplishments! 3 days to San Diego!

Quite a productive day!  It was very warm this morning, so I figured I'd get an early start.  The screwdriver batteries were all charged up and ready to go.  First came the tub!  I also cut space in the shelves for the propane pipe in the cupboard under the cooktop, but didn't take pics of that.

There's a hole in my bathtub, Dear Liza!

With a drain...:)

I added a mirror to that wall even though the shower curtain will cover it.  But I put in a clear shower curtain, so the mirror will still reflect some light and give a little depth.

Attached the drawer fronts to the drawers under the tub.

Finally decided on how to keep my pantry from emptying itself when rolling it open and closed.  I cut about half an inch into both ends of a dowel to make a flat surface, then attached them to the pantry...see below.

Thought I might get fancy pantsy artsy fartsy and paint them all cool, but it didn't work in the end. Here I'm drilling holes and starting the nails.

Can you find the rail that is up?

Here they are mostly up...had to glue the bottom one back together because the hammer landed just right and broke the dowel.

Painted white, and now they look much better.

A closer shot.  The ends of the dowels were cut flat so I could attach them.

I also began the clean up project!  I took all the extra wood and flooring to the shed, as well as many tools.  I emptied the storage loft and vaccuumed most of the floor.  Just working on getting it into presentation shape.  Lighting in the kitchen is the next priority.  We'll see how tomorrow and Thursday go.  I still need to add some trailer lights to the porch so I'm legal.  :)

Despite starting out very warm, we finished the day with snow.  I think it will still be on the grass in the morning.  Must be spring!

Small items

This week I'm feeling like I didn't accomplish much, but a little is better than nothing.  The tub platform started here.

Then added a little height.  In my attempt to not have any holes in the floor I had to find a drain for the tub that was quite low profile.  I originally thought I would need to build the tub platform out of 2x6 in order to accomodate the drain. But then I found a drain that would work with 2x4. Whew.

Then the platform itself is made of leftover chunks of 3/4" plywood.

Here it is complete...now I need to cut the hole for the drain and get the plumbing going. I'm also using shims to create a little bit of a slope for water draining.
Also, when I put in the water input I was still thinking I would be using 2x6 for the platform, so my water intake was too high.  I had to relocate it a bit lower, and fill in the original hole.  Didn't take a pic of that mess, but once it is painted I'm sure I'll be the only one who notices.  Need to get the shut-off valves for the sink and then I can test the water connections and finish that wall.

The other thing I did this week was paint the trim for the storage loft.  Started with a bit of pale green...

Added some darker green (it is sparkly if you see it in person)...

Then added some blue to the opposite side and blended it all together.

It is difficult to take a picture while attempting to hold the trim in place.  Here is my sad attempt.

The last thing I did this week, which doesn't have accompanying pictures, had to do with the bathtub.  I've had many ideas to create a slope in the tub to facilitate draining.  The first idea I tried failed pretty completely.  I mixed sand with plastidip and spread it around the bottom of the water trough creating a slope toward where the drain will be.  I think it would have actually worked if I had used finer sand, but alas, this week was spent chiseling the dried concoction out of the tub. I think the shims under the tub platform will be enough, but I'm still going to line the trough with a layer of plastidip. I tested the water-tightness and the trough is not leaking, but I want an extra layer of water seal.  So more on that coming up.

Okay...kitchen tile.

After last week's post stating that I wasn't going to put up the tile, I discovered that the ecobond I've been using can be used on tile. I'm still going to wait on the grout, but I'm so excited how this turned out.

I've also been working on the door...sanding and filling. Need to paint it and then I'll post a pic.  Also started on the platform for the bathtub, but got lazy, so didn't finish it. More of those pics to come as well.  I need to take a little inventory of the stuff I can do without buying anything and make my to-do list for this week.
